After years planning political, corporate and fundraising events, I was looking for a little less empty glitz and a little more honest emotion. In 2012, I launched Lula Mae Special Events to create events that obviously run smoothly and look beautiful, but that most importantly showcase the joy, excitement and love of a once-in-a-lifetime day.

I'm your girl for everything from a 300-guest hotel bash to a DIY backyard cocktail party, and since this is a family business, you’ll often find my wife or kids on-site with the assist.

I also have special experience with queer weddings so all LGBTQ+ couples are enthusiastically welcomed!

So wait, who is Lula Mae?

I come from a family who knows how to throw a good party, and there was no way for me to start an events business without honoring that legacy. Some of my fondest memories are helping my mother plan out a menu or rushing around behind the scenes making sure everyone was having a blast. Lula Mae is the first name of two of my three grandmothers. (Yes, two. God bless the South.) One was the absolute queen of etiquette, and knew exactly how to make everything “just so.” The other, despite little formal education and even less money, made the most amazing quilts and other handmade arts. Combined, those qualities are exactly what this venture is about: creating an authentic, creative and joyous event without spending your life savings.

In honor of my legacy of talented women, Lula Mae Special Events was born!
